Objectives

  • Characterize in depth bio-geophysical exposures (pollution, green and blue space and biodiversity) in Porto Metropolitan Area in the last decade and investigate the presence of socio-spatial inequalities.

  • Investigate the impact of the exposure to air pollution, green and blue spaces and biodiversity on the development of allergic diseases and asthma among children from the Geração XXI, taking into account the residential and school environment.

  • Study the impact of the above-mentioned exposures since conception until 10 years of age, identifying critical and sensitive periods of exposure.

  • Generate urban planning recommendations and information about the biological and epigenetic mechanisms beyond the development of these diseases.
